Matt Gets Career Best Results at QLD PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 29 June 2009 13:50

v8sfgm_logoeStyles Racing driver, Matt016 scored his best ever career results in the latest round of the Track IR V8 Supercars championship. Matt who joined the team in Season IV finished 5th and 6th leaving the carnage behind. “It was a good round for me. I got the confidence now that I can run up the front with the fast guys” said a delighted Matt after race two.

Fellow teammate Redger struggled in race one but fought back to a solid result in the final race. Sister team, V8 Supercars Fan Group Racing, also fared well with Bowie and Backmarker finishing in the top five in both races.

The round also seen all four enduro drivers; Kingy, Justin, HRTMAN22 and Sprint51 compete to build up the miles prior to the much anticipated Bathurst race. HRTMAN22 surprised the field with pole position and finished in the top five aswell providing a solid base heading into the next two rounds.

Team owner, Justin said he was delighted for Matt to finally crack the top five bubble.

“I done it in Bahrain but that was a different mod. Matt has worked very hard to work his way from the back of the field to the front in a relatively short period and deserves to be there”

“Since recruiting Matt for season four, we have worked very hard as a team on consistency and he’s put in the hard yards. He’s the first to be there on team test days and he’s usually the last to leave”.

Matt was criticized in previous season’s for crashing into his team mate’s on a regular basis but Justin believes that’s history.

“I reckon his previous team environments were pressure central. In his first race he asked me what to do and I simply said go out, race and have fun mate”.

The former race driver turn team manager said all “possible avenues” are being explored to combat the Sandman Motorsport domination.

“We are working very hard. People think we are not but we are. I want to be the guy who says his team finally clean swept a round from Sandman and we are getting there slowly I believe. We have picked up on a few points from the last round and I have no doubt we will be strong at Phillip Island. Our motivation is the fact we have been so close already with stacks of second's”.

The next round of the Track IR V8 Supercars championship will take place at Phillip Island followed by Bathurst which will see the introduction of the hot swapping activity.
